Twin Cities Hospital receives ‘Top Performer’ recognition

Only hospital in SLO County to receive recognition from Joint CommissionExterior of Twin Cities Hospital

Twin Cities Community Hospital announced that they are the only hospital in San Luis Obispo County to receive recognition from the accrediting agency, the Joint Commission, as a Top Performer in Key Quality Measures in the categories of Heart Failure, Pneumonia, and Surgical Care.

The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in America, gives the Top Performer designation to hospitals that are leading the way nationally in accountability performance and in using evidence-based clinical processes that are shown to improve care for certain conditions.

According to The Joint Commission Annual Report on Quality and Safety 2013, Twin Cities Community Hospital represents one of 1,099 Joint Commission-accredited hospitals (or 33% of all its accredited hospitals). The report is based on data reported in the previous year about evidence-based clinical processes for heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care, children’s asthma, inpatient psychiatric services, stroke, venous thromboembolism, and immunization.

“Twin Cities Community Hospital and all the Top Performer hospitals have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to quality improvement and they should be proud of their achievement,” said Mark R. Chassin, M.D., FACP, M.P.P., M.P.H., president and Chief Executive Officer of the Joint Commission.

Twin Cities CEO Mark Lisa added, “Twin Cities is proud to receive the distinction of being a Joint Commission Top Performer on Key Quality Measures. This recognition is proof of the hard work, dedication, and care shown by all Twin Cities Hospital staff; we hope that this award demonstrates to our patients and the San Luis Obispo County community our deep commitment to safe and effective care.”
