Don’t miss Paso Pops Independence Day celebration July 1

Paso Pops 2016 fireworks finale

Deadline for ticket purchases is June 29

–Paso Pops, the annual Paderewski Festival-sponsored patriotic-themed concert and Independence Day celebration in Paso Robles combining wine, beer, food, family-friendly activities, live music and fireworks will take place on Saturday, July 1 at the Paso Robles Horse Park, 3801 Hughes Parkway. Gates open at 4 p.m.

Deadline for ticket purchases is June 29. “Day-of” tickets are not available. General admission tickets start at $15. Reserved seating starts at $50 and sponsored tables at $100.

Reserved seating ticket holders wine tasting featuring 40 local wineries will be open from 5-7:30 p.m. The San Luis Obispo Symphony Musical Petting Zoo and interactive arts activities by Studios on the Park and Paso Robles Youth Arts Foundation are provided for young families. Firestone Walker beer and a variety of wines from Paso Robles wine country will be available for purchase. Patrons are welcome to bring picnics, pre-order meals from Allegretto Vineyard Resort at the time tickets are purchased, or sample from a variety of the county’s caterers and food trucks that will be on hand. No outside alcohol. Service animals only.

The full program includes:

  • The San Luis Obispo Symphony including Youth Symphony members, led by Guest Conductor Christopher J. Woodruff presenting a 90-minute program: Bernstein’s “Overture to Candide”; Copland’s “Variations on a Shaker Melody;” Ward/Dragon’s “America the Beautiful;” Gershwin/Bennett’s “Porgy and Bess: Symphonic Picture” and Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture” set to a cannon fusillade and fireworks finale.
  • Military Honor Guard presentation, “Star-Spangled Banner” sung by Alodie Ayers with the Singing Hands Children’s Choir and Paso Robles High School Advanced Choir, and emcee Paso Wine Man Casey Biggs. Paderewski Festival Youth Piano Competition Winners Jack Raventos and Sarah Girges will perform solos of Rachmaninoff’s “Prelude in g, Op 23 No. 5” and “Chopin/Liszt’s “The Maiden’s Wish.”
  • A debut Paso Pops performance by the Swing Dolls of Los Angeles performing “Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree”, “Hold Tight”, “Salute to the Armed Forces” and “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.”
  • An after party featuring music by Rocky Montijo and the Mojitos follows the fireworks finale.

 

Net proceeds from Paso Pops will be distributed to the Padereweski Festival Youth Piano Competition and Student Cultural Exchange Program, San Luis Obispo Youth Program, Studios on the Park Youth Art Program and Paso Robles Youth Arts Foundation. To volunteer or for more information visit the Paderewski Festival website or call (805) 235-5409.
