The Central Coast Shakespeare Festival returns July 11

–The Central Coast Shakespeare Festival will present their sixth season at the Filipponi Ranch with two hilarious productions. Performances will run from July 11 through Aug. 3 under the stars. Pack a picnic meal, bring lawn chairs, warm clothes and blankets. Filipponi Ranch wines are available for purchase, no outside alcohol is allowed. Beda’s Biergarten will be onsite selling their hearty German fare each evening, and there will be short pre-show music sets on Friday nights. Visit www.centralcoastshakespeare.org for more details.

Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare

“Foolery, sir, does walk about the orb like the sun. It shines everywhere.”
Audience favorite, Twelfth Night, is one of Shakespeare’s most produced comedies and for good reason. Unrestrained passions and ribald revelry reign! Twelfth Night, or What You Will is a topsy-turvy triple love story featuring separated twins, mistaken identities, gender-crossing disguises, besotted relatives, and wisecracking fools. Once our shipwrecked heroine Viola washes ashore, the world seems to go mad in delightful ways.

Treasure Island by Phil Willmott from the novel by Robert Louis Stevenson

Peg legs, eye patches, parrots and rum: All our images of what a pirate is stem from Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island. His timeless tale of a young man’s adventure hunting pirate treasure has had countless retellings since its first publication in 1883. CSSF brings back our acclaimed production first seen in 2009. This adaptation by Phil Willmott keeps the heart of the tale while updating the cast of characters to include not only sea dogs but sea wenches as well! Audiences of all ages will enjoy this hilarious and rollicking rendition.

Filipponi Ranch is located at 1850 Calle Joaquin Road, in San Luis Obispo. Tickets are $12 – $20. Ticket discounts available for students/seniors/children 12 and under, offering “Pay What You Can Thursdays.” For tickets and more information go to  www.centralcoastshakespeare.org. Attendees are encouraged to order tickets online ahead of time to minimize delays at the door. The box office opens one hour before each performance.
