Templeton Eagles football team wins opening game

Templeton Eagles line up to shake hands with the Blue Raiders after beating them Friday in Caruthers.

Friday night, Aug. 23, the Templeton Eagles traveled to Caruthers to play the heralded Blue Raiders. Although Caruthers had a record of 24-2 over the past two seasons, the Eagles forced a fumble on the second play of the game and scored the first touchdown. Templeton then intercepted two Blue Raider passes and converted those turnovers into touchdowns. The highly regarded Blue Devils did not score until the 4th quarter.

The final score, Templeton 32, Caruthers 6.

The Eagles had outstanding performances from quarterbacks Tyler Kaschewski and Zach Logan. Marino D’Alfonso intercepted a pass and scored on a touchdown reception.

Coach Don Crow said, “Turnovers made the difference in this game.”

The Eagles had a bye last Friday. They host a powerful team from Carmel on Sept. 6.
