Templeton clean-up day reports success
– Community volunteers comprised of grandparents, parents and their children, Boy Scouts, and local residents converged on the streets of Templeton to give the community a “green” face lift during the 15th annual Templeton Community Clean-Up Day.
With approximately 40 volunteers, 320 pounds of trash consisting of everything from cigarette butts, plastic chairs, Styrofoam cups, to tires was collected. Local volunteers collected bag after bag of trash that might have otherwise ended up in local storm drains and waterways, where it could have contributed to water pollution or damaged fish habitat.
It appears that there is a stronger community effort in keeping litter off the streets as there was less litter this year when compared to prior years.
Next year’s clean-up day will be Saturday, Sept. 24 or Saturday, Oct. 1.
