Special meeting called to address county tree removal ordinances
Meeting will be held July 15 in San Luis Obispo
–The San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors has called for a special meeting on July 15 to address county-wide oak tree removal. The board called the meeting in response to dozens of locals who spoke out during public comment at the June 21 meeting after Justin Vineyards and Winery clear cut a large portion of oak forest last month.
The meeting will look at a potential urgency ordinance that would prohibit clear cutting of oak woodlands and other trees. To pass an urgency ordinance it would take approval from four out of the five sitting representatives.
Staff reports should be available about a week before the hearings. The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. at the San Luis Obispo County Government Center, located at 1055 Monterey Street in San Luis Obispo.
