Mural unveiling and reception hosted at Vineyard Dog Park

– Vineyard Dog Park organizers hosted a coffee social and artist reception for the official unveiling of the 2015 mural on Saturday, Aug. 8. The reception honored the artist, Santana Sanchez, winner of the 5th annual student art competition. The annual competition is open to students residing in the North County to paint a 4’ x 7’ mural for the park entrance. The competition winner completes the mural project under the supervision of Brenda Thomason, a local professional artist.

Santana is 15 and attends Atascadero High School as a sophomore. She is active in the local 4H group and also plays cello. Santana won a $300 cash prize, all expenses paid, community service hours, and the gratitude of many dog owners.

“We were very impressed with her design as it beautifully captures the spirit and athleticism of many of our dog visitors,” says President of the Vineyard Dog Park Board of Directors Paula O’Farrell.

Free coffee and pastries were served at the coffee social. Dogs and their families were invited to attend. Vineyard Dog Park is located at 1010 Semillon Lane in Templeton. For more information, visit www.parks4pups.org or call (805) 239-4437.
