Halloween comes early with ‘Thrills and Chills’
Concert features costumes and ghoulish concert variations
–On Tuesday evening, local residents and their kids packed the Templeton Performing Arts Center to watch Templeton High School’s concert band for the 14th annual “Thrills and Chills” pre-Halloween show. Band members dressed up in homemade costumes and paraded on stage before launching into select fright night compositions such as, “Night on Bald Mountain,” “Odysseus and the Sirens,” “The Monster Under the Bed” and “Night Cries.”
The evening benefitted from an extra large retinue of adorable first and second graders from Templeton Elementary School, who showed up in their Halloween costumes, hoping to win prizes or sweets at the very least.
As for the musical performances, the Templeton High School concert band has talent to burn, including prodigious wind and brass sections with promising soloists. The band is underwritten by a plethora of community sponsors, including local vineyards, banks, law firms and realtors, as well as the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors and a prominent utility company.
The annual Templeton High School winter concert takes place in the Templeton Performing Arts Center on Dec. 14.
