–A house fire destroyed a 120-year-old home at 6760 York Mt. Road in Templeton Tuesday night.

The fire broke out in the attic of the house around 9 p.m. Tuesday night. The occupant, Shari Little, escaped with her dog and several birds. She lost all her personal belongings. Little has lived in the rental home for more than ten years.fire-paso-robles

The house was built in the late 1800’s by a ship builder. A nearby barn was used by a stage coach operation to provide fresh horses for the stage which connected Paso Robles with Cambria.

Debbie Sullivan has owned the ranch on York Mountain Road for 56 years. Her home, which is located one-half mile away, did not suffer any damage. Captain Dennis Burns of Cal Fire said the fire started in the attic. The cause has not been determined. The house and its contents were a total loss.
