Whale Rock Music and Arts Festival this weekend
Headliners: Toots & The Maytals | Beats Antique | Xavier Rudd
September 10, 2019 (Templeton, CA) – What was initially planned as Castoro Cellar’s 30th-year-anniversary party in 2013 morphed into Whale Rock Music & Arts Festival. The annual two-day concert series on September 14-15 features music by 16 bands from all over the world, art, yoga classes, delicious food, and is among the most highly anticipated outdoor entertainment events in the region.
Whale Rock Music and Arts Festival features back-to-back band performances on two stages, a gallery of local artists, all-ages yoga, kid crafts and games, Castoro wines, craft beers, hard ciders, food trucks and more.
Taking the stage this weekend in Templeton are Grammy Award-winning and legendary reggae artist Toots & the Maytals along with Australian singer-songwriter Xavier Rudd who will close Saturday, September 14th, and the experimental world fusion group Beats Antique along with the California Honeydrops will close Sunday, September 15th.
“Now in its seventh year, Whale Rock Music and Arts Festival has truly become a part of the Central Coast community and something people look forward to all year long,” Luke said. “We’ve been fortunate enough to raise over $90,000 that has gone directly to the Templeton School District, primarily the Templeton High School music program.”
A choice of food vendors will provide plenty of choices for healthy appetites, from sweet and savory crepes, wood-fired pizzas, and BBQ to acai bowls and vegetarian cuisine. A wide assortment of beer, wine, cider, spirits, and nonalcoholic beverages and desserts will also be available for purchase.
At Kit’s Corner, children can enjoy face painting, games, a musical petting zoo, tie dyeing and more. Yoga classes will take place from 12:00 to 7:30 pm. in one hour sessions on both concert days. Tickets range from $85/day to $130/two-day passes and cost slightly higher at the door. Kids 12/under are free with each paid adult admission. The Udsen family has gifted event proceeds to local, education-based non-profit organizations each year. Total donated over the first six years exceeds $90,000. The 2019 benefactor is again the Templeton Instrumental Music Boosters Association (TIMBA), a parent volunteer organization dedicated to enhancing the experiences of Templeton High School musicians.
