Templeton Fire Department crews responded to a mobile home fire at Meadow Brook Mobile Home Park located off Bennett Way, in Templeton on Wednesday afternoon, at 3:07 p.m.

Atascadero and Cal Fire Engine #30 fire crews assisted Templeton firefighters who were quick to extinguish and contain the fire to the bathroom. Upon further investigation the fire appears to have started on side of the front porch. Damage was also found underneath the home. Fortunately, the mobile home was not occupied or furnished.

Templeton Interim Fire Chief Bill White said that fortunately Commanding Officer Tony Broom was on duty yesterday, as the outcome could have been worse if the response had been delayed. Broom’s position is funded by a SAFER Grant that is due to expire in September 2016. The department is currently researching alternatives for fire department operations/staffing.

It is still not clear what caused the fire but the cause is under investigation.
