Old-fashioned street fair on Main Street in downtown Templeton Nov. 1

The Templeton Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Founders Day Street Fair, a celebration of the town’s historical and agricultural roots, on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 1-4 p.m. on Main Street between 3rd and 5th streets.

This year’s fair will include some well known local entertainment including live music by The Jammies, an exotic animal “Meet & Greet” by Zoo To You and the dynamic juggling unicycle riding act, Something Ridiculous. Attendees will also enjoy performances by Main Street Dance and the Templeton High School Drama Department, doing scenes from their upcoming production of Romeo and Juliet.

In addition to the live entertainment, the annual harvest celebration will feature food vendors, beer and wine, arts and craft booths, non-profit organization bake sales, bounce house, antique cars and farm equipment plus the inaugural Rotary Chili Cook-off, which features a $500 cash prize for best chili voted on by the crowd. The Templeton Historical Museum, plus the classic Depot building, will be open for tours and every visitor gets a free slice of pie or cake courtesy of the museum.

Templeton Chili CookoffThis event is free and will be held Rain or Shine. Rotary Chili Cook-off tasting tickets are $10, for sale at the Chamber office or at the event. Home Chefs or restaurants/caterers interested in entering the chili cook-off should contact Georgia Vreeken at (805) 440-7889 www.templetonrotary.org/Stories/chili-cookoff.

Founder’s Day is when the Templeton community and guests gather to celebrate all that is Templeton, as well as the area’s rich agricultural heritage. In earlier days, this event was a “homecoming” celebration wherein members of the community, past and present, would gather to reminisce and visit with family and friends. Recently, this event was revived by the Templeton Historical Museum Society as an Old- Fashioned Pie Social and with the participation of the Templeton Chamber, has grown into a grand street fair.

The Templeton Chamber of Commerce is an alliance of over 280 North County businesses and citizens that has advocated for the economic vitality of, and the quality of life in, the community of Templeton since 1902.
