Pacific Wildlife Foundation to host, ‘Soupabration’ Nov. 6
Event raises money for organization to rescue and rehabilitate injured or ill wildlife
Over a dozen Central Coast chefs will bring their best soup to Morro Bay once again this November for Pacific Wildlife’s annual “Soupabration.” Soupabration celebrates its sixth year on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 6. Hundreds of local and visiting foodies annually attend the popular event to taste unique artisan soups, local wines, and other artisan food samplings. Hollywood actor and voice actor, Robin Atkin Downes, headlines this year’s event. Downes, a master of over 60 dialects, will emcee Soupabration.
Chefs entering soup for both professional judging and attendee judging represent most of San Luis Obispo County. With the theme “A World of Soup,” chefs from local Peruvian, Mediterranean, Asian, and Latin restaurants, as well as, local bistros, caterers and health food-centric markets will fill the Morro Bay Community Center with a plethora of aromas, that one food writer said, “will make your tongue tangle in flavor.”
Soupabration also features select Central Coast wineries that will offer wine tastings throughout the event. This year’s wineries were chosen for their wide selection of varietals from around the world, but grown and produced in Central California. Attendees who purchase the option of wine tasting can sample varietals and blends using albarino, carmerere, malbec, and picpol blanc.
Soupabration is a Pacific Wildlife Care fundraising event. PWC has served the entire SLO County for nearly 30 years rescuing and rehabilitating injured or ill wildlife. In 2015, PWC brought in about 3,000 animals that ranged from birds, mammals and reptiles. So, the natural stars of Soupabration are PWC’s Wildlife Ambassadors. Between soup and wine tasting, attendees can meet hawks, owls, opossums and other animals that came in injured, have been treated, but can no longer live in the wild because of blindness or other life-debilitating injuries.
This year’s event will also feature international entertainment, a holiday market and live and silent auctions.
Tickets are available online at www.soupabration.org and they will be available at the door. For additional information, call (805) 927-3357 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
