What is illegal dumping and how can I report it? 

Illegal dumping templeton–Illegal dumping is dumping of any waste, whether it is oil, furniture, appliances, trash, litter or landscaping cuttings, etc., upon any public right-of-way, district property or private property, without consent of the owner.

Your help is essential to catching and deterring illegal dumps. If you observe someone illegally dumping, please call the Sheriff’s Dispatch at (805) 781-4550 to report the incident.

Information that should be note includes the following:
•Date, time and location of incident
•Description of vehicle and license plate number
•Description of person(s) dumping
•What items/materials were being dumped
•Your name and phone number (optional)

If you encounter an illegal dump that has already taken place please report it to the San Luis Obispo County Environmental Health Services Department. They respond to illegal dumping and trash build-up, as well as, several types of public health complaints from citizens concerning, but not limited to: restaurants or markets; failing septic systems; waste tires; hazardous material violations and vector control.
