Home energy workshop Dec. 11 in Templeton

EmPower

Homeowners can learn about home energy upgrade opportunities at free dinner and informational event

EmPower San Luis Obispo County invites local homeowners to attend a free dinner workshop on Dec. 11 at 601 S. Main Street in Templeton from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. to learn how EmPower can help them access easy and affordable home energy upgrades.

EmPowerDuring the workshop, EmPower Energy Coach Paul Menconi will present real examples of common issues he has encountered touring homes in San Luis Obispo County. Attendees can ask Paul their own home energy questions, as well as schedule a free Energy Coach Visit for a comprehensive look at their own home’s energy performance, including the condition of the heating ventilation and air conditioning system, insulation levels, water heater, and other major appliances that can contribute to high energy bills.

“It’s a great time of year to understand what improvements can be made to increase comfort in one’s home and reduce energy use,” said Menconi. “People are surprised that no matter the age of their home—whether new, old or newly remodeled—there are usually inefficiencies that can be improved upon.”

The event will also provide information on how EmPower can help connect homeowners to qualified local contractors for home energy audits and recommendations on fixing common issues like old or broken furnaces, ducts, windows and insulation. These upgrades improve home comfort and indoor air quality while helping to lower utility bills and save energy.

Attendees will also learn how to take advantage of low interest, unsecured financing and up to $6,500 in utility incentives for home energy efficiency projects.
