Friends of The Wellness Kitchen pay tribute to Nancy Walker

Therapeutic Chef and Founder of The Wellness Kitchen in Templeton, CA, Nancy Walker, announced her retirement as executive director last month. Walker started The Wellness Kitchen in 2010, fulfilling her desire and passion to educate those faced with health challenges about the benefits of a healthy and organic approach to cooking, recovery and life. Walker’s vision led to more than 13,000 meals and approximately 7,000 quarts of broth in 2017! “The Wellness Kitchen’s S.O.U.L. Kitchen Fundraising event is soon to arrive, and I couldn’t be more excited to host an event to bring our local community together to support a great cause,” says Grieb. “This is also a time to celebrate and pay special tribute to Nancy Walker, Founder, Therapeutic Chef and Visionary for her dedication and commitment in bringing The Wellness Kitchen alive since her opening in 2010.”

The Wellness Kitchen is asking that the SOUL Kitchen event be filled with the faces of those whose lives have been touched by Nancy Walker and her vision to provide the community with the most delicious and nutritious foods possible. Walker’s impact is far-reaching; In 2017, volunteers will have prepared an estimated 13,000 meals and approximately 7,000 quarts of broth!

“Nancy is handing the torch over to me; so now that I’ve accepted my new role as Executive Director, I will proceed to work alongside Nancy in growing the education programs, with a goal to expand our services to help more people in our community,” says Grieb.

Walker was recently recognized for her contribution to our community as one of five women to receive the 40th Annual “Woman of Distinction Award” receiving the 2017 award in Community and Public Service as a Professional, presented by Cuesta College and the Community Foundation of San Luis Obispo County’s Women’s Legacy Fund.
